Digital Photo Archive
We were presented with a grant through the Colorado Historic Research and Archives Board and the Buena Vista Heritage Preservation Commission through the town of Buena Vista. This project is an effort to make our photographic collections digital and able to be accessed for research by the public.

They were captured in a deep ravine in the Sangre [de] Christo Range. Black Jack is foreground on left. There is a large reward offered for his capture -- dead or alive. The rest of the party are serving a life sentence in Canon City. #1 Slippery Jim, #2 Black Jack, #3 Whiskey Pete, #4 Lewis Swallow." This was a hunting trip for the men. Swallow was a prankster and liked to pose for pictures such as this. #2 (Black Jack) is Arthur Hutchinson
